Columbia Gardens Vineyard & Winery

Columbia Gardens Vineyard & Winery is a small, family-owned estate in the Columbia Gardens Valley, just minutes from downtown Trail and the only winery in this corner of the West Kootenays. Run by Ben and Tersia de Jager, it has been crafting award-winning wines from its nine-acre vineyard since the early 2000s. The property also includes the Grape Escape Guesthouse, a rustic retreat popular for overnight stays and weddings.

The vineyard is planted to cool-climate varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Auxerrois, and Marechal Foch, alongside a small-batch port. The Kootenay wine region, centred around the Creston Valley and Trail corridor, is one of BC's hidden gems. Protected valleys, rich alluvial soils, and dedicated growers produce small-lot wines with a sense of place that rewards the adventurous wine lover.

The estate is located along 9340 Station Road, in the Columbia Gardens Valley outside Trail. Guests are encouraged to contact the winery directly to confirm current hours and availability before planning a visit.
