Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: May 2026

OkanaganWineryMap.ca is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that every person should have equal access to information about the beautiful wineries of the Okanagan Valley, regardless of ability or the technology they use to access the web.

Our Commitment: We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Measures Taken: We have implemented several accessibility features throughout our website. These include semantic HTML markup to ensure proper document structure; descriptive alt text for meaningful images; sufficient colour contrast ratios between text and background colours; keyboard navigation support for all interactive elements; clear, descriptive link text that makes sense out of context; and a responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and devices.

Interactive Map: Our interactive valley map uses SVG elements with appropriate labels and is designed to be navigable using keyboard controls. Region names and winery counts are provided as text alternatives for visual map elements. We recognize that complex interactive maps present unique accessibility challenges, and we continue to work on improving this feature.

Text and Typography: We use legible font sizes, clear font families, and adequate line spacing throughout the Site. Our design avoids relying on colour alone to convey information. Text content can be resized using standard browser zoom controls without loss of functionality.

Forms and Interactive Elements: All interactive elements on our Site, including search fields, filter controls, and modal overlays, are designed to be operable using a keyboard. Focus indicators are provided to show which element is currently selected when navigating by keyboard.

Third-Party Content: Our website links to external winery websites that we do not control. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of these third-party sites and encourage wineries to adopt accessibility best practices on their own websites.

Ongoing Efforts: Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we regularly review our website to identify and address potential barriers. We test our Site using a combination of automated accessibility tools and manual testing to ensure compliance with current standards.

Physical Accessibility at Wineries: While we provide information about wineries, we do not control the physical accessibility of individual winery premises. Visitors with specific accessibility needs are encouraged to contact wineries directly before visiting to confirm that their facilities can accommodate your requirements.

Known Limitations: While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations may exist due to the nature of third-party technologies, embedded content, or recently added features that have not yet been fully reviewed. We are actively working to resolve any known issues.

Feedback: We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of OkanaganWineryMap.ca. If you encounter any barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at . We take all accessibility feedback seriously and will make reasonable efforts to address any issues promptly.

We are committed to continually improving the accessibility of our website and providing a positive experience for all visitors.
